WELCOME

STAY AND READ AWHILE

Parents and students and all other visitors- welcome to this site - written just for you.   If you want to be "in the know" please check this site every week or so!!!  I will add info as activity in my class changes .

Ask your student to show you my class management plan. The year will be better for all of us if the rules and class incentives are kept in mind.  One great tool often not used - students should ask to see me in the morning to have work graded early or just to come in for extra help.   8:00 is a good time to come for early help.

"BEWARE OF MISTAKES"

There are a few mistakes in the following articles.  If students can find the errors and bring them to my attention -bonus points will be given!!!  Dare you!!

MYTHOLOGY

The class studied mythology in the first quarter.  They found it is still studied for entertainmint purposes and because there are many "allusions" (ask your student to explain!!) made in today's world concerning mythology.  Independent projects complete the unit.   The classroom has been full of food, posters, sheilds, costumes, and other works.  Much talent to be found in this room!

"THE CHRISTMAS CAROL"

WHAT IS BENEVOLENCE???

By now, any 7th grade should be able to answer that question!!  The study of "The Christmas Carol" involves reading and doing!!  Students will learn about benevolence as they visit the nursing home and work on the Change A Child's Christmas project.  The class will also discuss and practice various ways to be benevolent on a daily basis, with or without money, and regardless of ones age.  Parents help your child become involved with "The Christmas Carol" and the idea of benevolence.

NURSING HOME VISIT

A great visit was had at Odin Care Center on December 10.  The class had previously wrapped a small present for every resident.  Two favorite Christmas carols were sung as we first arrived.  The residents smiled and several sang  along with us.

Next the students shared  the gifts and began visiting with the people living there.  Many great stories were told of conversations shared with residents.  The residents themselves commented  about how the kids really visited well, sharing some of their lives also.  One lady that makes craft items was particularly thrilled with the attention she received and with the money she made when students purchased some of her items.  Another special moment was when a director told us a woman that seldom smiles was smiling on her own while the kids were there.

CHANGE A CHILD'S CHRISTMAS

In order to share this info - look at the news and fun items page - however - the big news -

THE 7TH GRADE MANAGED TO RAISE $1,001 TO PURCHASE CHRISTMAS ITEMS FOR CHILDREN IN OUR DISTRICT

This could not have happened without the support from the entire staff and student body.  A thousand one thanks!!!

MORE BIG NEWS - since $1,000 WAS RAISED - Mr. Jett will soon be bald!!  Thanks Mr. Jett!!!
