U.S. Sonet joins Illinois Gigabit Communities Challenge
Salem Internet provider hopes to attain a state grant that will help them become the first gigabit community in Illinois

SALEM – U.S. Sonet in Salem is applying for a grant that would help Salem become the first gigabit community in Illinois. The company decided last week to participate in the Illinois Gigabit Communities Challenge in hopes of earning up to $4 million in grant money to upgrade their service offerings to a one gigabit speed.

Salem to Enter Illinois Gigabit Challenge for Faster Internet Service to Customers
Salem could be the first in the nation to have Gigabit internet service available on a widespread basis to homes and businesses. Salem-based U.S. Sonet has announced they will be applying for a 1.6-million dollar grant from the State of Illinois “Gigabit Challenge”. (more…)
